Because Sudden Mentorship is a Breeze

Hello again! This week's blog post contains the long-awaited and coveted information regarding my mentor for this project. To begin, her name is Audra. She has been a family friend of ours for many years, and was more than happy to agree to become my mentor when I had explained to her my sore predicament. For the most part, she sews and quilts things as a hobby. She has made many beautiful quilts and such in the time I have known her, so I found her to be a perfect candidate as my mentor.
Throughout the duration of this project, Audra will be helping me find selected designs to make, as well as teaching me how to utilize said designs to create the intended gifts. With luck, I will soon be able to gain a sufficient amount of rudimentary knowledge so as to require less guidance, and to do some creative exploring of my own.
Audra was taught how to crochet from her babysitter when she was only nine years old, who apparently did so to keep her out of mischief. While she did not have the patience for sewing as a sixteen-year-old when her mother tried to teach her, the hobby grew on her and she is now adept at it. She learned how to cross-stitch in her teens in Young Women's. At 25, she taught her sister-in-law to cross-stitch in exchange for learning how to quilt. Finally, Audra taught herself how to knit not long ago by watching YouTube videos.
I am very excited for this project to come to fruition, and I very much look forward to working with my mentor and learning throughout the duration of this project. I am very grateful for Audra's willingness to help me despite things that she is going through now, and I commend and admire her strength and perseverance. As well as her red car. That is also very helpful for meetings and such, since I only sometimes particularly enjoy going on bike rides.
As for fun little facts about Audra, she likes the color green; she loves reading a wide array of books, and her favorite movie is The Princess Bride. She has three brothers, four children, and a hunting dog named Sugar. She also loves sautéed mushrooms. If you'd like to know, these facts came from her daughter, who was rather eager to reveal such information, as her mother was currently at home with a cold.

    1. Oh dear, I believe you've misunderstood. Audra's own mother used to be her teacher, not mine. Haha, my mom can sew, and that's about it.

  2. I love this idea. I think it is funny she learned to crochet only so she would stay out of mischief. But hey if she weren't such a mischievous child she would've never discovered her talent. She sounds like an awesome mentor since she learned young and has had time to perfect her art. Good luck guys!
